The easiest way is Store & sorting → Send feedback in the app: it opens Mail with your app version, iOS version and iPhone model filled in. For a scan that went wrong, open the list's ••• menu, choose Scanned text and tap Email this to support, which adds exactly what the camera read.

Frequently asked questions

Scrawl misread my handwriting.

Tap the item and correct its name. Scrawl remembers the correction and fixes the same misreading on your next scan (you'll find them under Store & sorting → Scanning fixes). Scans work best in good light, with the whole note in the picture and one item per line.

An item is in the wrong section.

Press and hold it and choose Move to…, then pick the section. Scrawl puts that item there from then on. Learned items are listed under Store & sorting → Learned, where you can swipe to forget one.

Two items ended up on one line, or one item was split in two.

Scrawl treats each line on the note as one item. Use Select items in the list's ••• menu to merge items, or tap an item to edit it. Writing each item on its own line, with a little space between lines, helps most.

My stores have different layouts.

Tap the store name at the top of a list and choose Add store. Each store has its own section order. Pick a store on a list and it's re-sorted at once; new lists start with the store you picked last.

How do I change the section order?

On a list, tap the store name and choose Edit section order, or go to Store & sorting and open a store. Drag the sections into the order you walk the store, and tap the eye to hide sections you don't use; their items show under Other.

Which languages does Scrawl understand?

Scrawl sorts lists best in Swedish and English. Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Polish have basic word lists. Items Scrawl doesn't know go under Other; move them once and it remembers. The app itself is in English and Swedish.

What is the list language?

The language you write your lists in, under Store & sorting → List language. Automatic works out each list's language. If you always write in the same language, choose it: scanning and sorting then use only that language. It's separate from the app's language, which you change in the iOS Settings app under Apps → Scrawl → Language.

I checked off an item by mistake.

Tap Undo on the message that appears at the bottom, or tap Show … checked items at the end of the list and tap the item again.

I deleted a list by mistake.

Scroll to the bottom of your lists and open Recently deleted. Tap the list and choose Recover. Deleted lists are kept for 30 days.

Do my lists sync between devices?

No. Your lists are stored on your iPhone and come with it when you restore a new iPhone from a backup. To send a list to someone, tap Share on the list.

Is Scrawl accessible?

Scrawl works with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type, in light and dark mode.
